About

PlayApp library

PlayApp is a very simple Processing library allowing the creation of interactive content for Playhouse.

Playhouse, which will run from 24th September – 11th October 2009, will turn Liberty Hall, one of Dublin’s tallest buildings, into a giant colour display visible from the banks of the river Liffey.

Playhouse will also feature sound broadcast over FM radio and a hi-res ‘marquee’ for displaying text on the top floor.

PlayApps may be submitted to the Playhouse project to be broadcast during the projects’ duration. Throughout the project the Playhouse website will display streaming video of a view of the building from across the river, and all authors will be notified by email when their sketch is being shown. Also the project will be filmed continuously, and clips of each animation playing (with sound) will be automatically archived for Authors to download.

PlayApp sketches can be simple procedural animations or can visualise any kind of data from the web, using the ‘marquee’ floor to display text or labelling, and can also include sound which will be broadcast via FM radio. Submitted sketches will be moderated, and may be played more frequently based on length and popularity.
